The job that people die for!
Today was a shitty day at work. For most of the time we sat around watching Kit work on the powerpoint presentation with Mary's laptop. Every Wednesday we each have a private individual meeting with Anthony, our "manager", to discuss our performance and goals (usually work related, but occasionally school related). Today Anthony told me that i wasn't grasping the stuff he'd been teaching, at least not as well as the other co-op students. He was either trying to motivate me or warn me. Maybe both?
One thing shitty about being a "Marketing Associate" is i have to bring in "clients", so people like Anthony can persuade them into buying life insurance policies. Because this is a co-op job, i will be evaluated at the end of the term... which means i either give them some clients or settle with a "marginal" rating. So lets see... i can sell out my friends and family for my marks, or give up on co-op and possibly my future! Fuck me!
However, this job has done a lot of positive things for me as well. I've met some cool people, but more importantly it's taught me how depressing it is to work in the insurance industry. Funny since i was actually thinking of becoming an Actuary! Not anymore!
